Hi Guys
After revising my previous suggested site, I found many limitations with structures under bridges, most commonly regular bridge inspections, which require the spaces to be cleared out.
Since then I have moved on to studying other areas in the same locality please see attached document.
I am now looking at the restoration of Piers to develop a programme which use an old pier on this site.

Hi,
ReplyDeleteMy site is actually a pier as well – it was once used for the many trading/ passenger boats that came down the river Mersey
Some good images here: http://www.28dayslater.co.uk/forums/industrial-sites/50466-princes-landing-stage-liverpool-may-2010-a.html
So any precedents may be relevant to the both of us. Have you come across this one from New York: http://www.thehighline.org/
I was also looking at some of the ones from around the UK to find out how they operate these days. Many seem to have declined since tourists stopped visiting. I was looking at Boscombe Pier, Bangor pier and Penarth pier Wales.
The boating club idea sounds good as it makes use of the location which is something I want to do with my own project, I was thinking something along the lines of a marine conservation centre/ aquarium/ fishing market & restaurant – all taking advantage of its prime river side location
